Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Margreet de Jong, 23 years old and I’m an illustrator who loves to make art that inspire other people.
What inspires you?
All the small things around me can by inspiring to me. Especially people and conversations between people. Also my dreams are a source of inspiration.
What themes do you pursue?
I just draw whatever is coming up in my mind, so I don’t have one specific theme. But I love to make work that is a little bit strange and make people laugh at the fist moment, but when you look a little further you can feel that my work is not only to laugh. I try to create a feeling of laughing and crying together.
Art is a great medium to communicate to other people in your own way. You don’t have to use words to tell a story. For me personal it’s also a way to deal with all the nasty and the terrible things that happen in the world. A kind of therapy. It makes me happy, especially when other people love it. Art makes the world a little bit more beautiful and I love to be part of that.
Name some artists you would like to be compared to.

Paul de Reus (dutch)
