Who are you and what do you do?

As an artist I try to solve some of the problems I create for myself. I'm always looking. I also run a small publishing house called Front Yard which I just started this year to share my own work and the work of other artists I want to support. Other than that, I love skateboarding when its not freezing outside.

Who/what inspires you?

Pretty much anything and everything in the universe will inspire me depending on my mood and what I am aware of at the moment. Also, I'm always inspired by those who are aware of the whole and act without ego. If we were all aware of the ego we could stop identifying ourselves with it and live more consciously with much less suffering.

What themes do you pursue?

I usually try to make new work without any themes in mind. Later in the editing process I will notice certain themes present themselves such as abstraction, sculptural objects, virtual reality, minimalism, specific architectural features,
consciousness, connectivity, ego, identity, searching, seeing, color, or everyday life.

Why art?

I've always felt a necessity to express myself and the culture of my understanding in one way or another usually by making things. I used to do more of this through skateboarding, now it's more of my photography and book making, but it's all related.

Name some artists you would like to be compared to.

There are many artists working with a range of different mediums who have influenced me and activated connections in my own work. I don't know that I would want to be compared to them, but rather seen as working in conversation with them. These are some of those artists: Cezzane, Duchamp, DeKooning, Rothko, Walker Evans, Lewis Baltz, Stephen Shore, William Eggleston, Jason Fulford, Ed Panar, Mike Slack, Roe Ethridge, Wolfgang Tillmans, Christian Patterson, John Lehr, Spike Jonze, Gino Iannucci, Brain Anderson, Mark Gonzales, Matt Luczak, James DiMauro, J-Dilla, Madlib, Nujabes, and many others (I'm sure I'm forgetting some of my favourites)
